Wahl Clippers
Wahl clippers
Wahl were founded in 1919, so have a long history in the hair cutting industry. Based out of Sterling, Illinois this makes it a USA company and this is reflected in their quality. Wahl are a popular brand amongst professionals.
Wahl MC3
The Walh MC3 is a budget home use corded clipper and usually runs around $25-$40. I bought these to serve a purpose, to be cheap. It served this role very well but it had it’s limitations. The main two issues were that my power socket in the bathroom was just slightly further away than the cord allowed for easy cutting. The other was they cut very poorly. I’ve owned these for a number of years, and I’m sure when they were new they cut decently. But over time the quality of cut seemed to get worse and worse. I decided these needed to be replaced when it felt like I was essentially pulling my hair out instead of cutting it. No matter how slow I went, the ‘cut’ just felt like a tear instead of a snip.
Wahl Cordless Magic Clip
The Wahl Cordless Magic Clip is a step, or more, up from the budget Wahl MC3. This can range in price from as low as $90 up to $120. Firstly, these are cordless so no more issues with the power socket being just out of reach. And secondly, no more fighting the power cord to get the angle correct. Being a member of the 5-star family of clippers, these are professional grade. Battery life according to Wahl is 90 minutes, which is plenty of time for home use. I get about 5 haircuts from a charge.
Comparing these hair clippers is like comparing oranges to apples, but I can strongly recommend the Wahl Cordless Magic Clip. You won’t be disappointed.
